Anyone familiar with the sense of disappointment you feel when you try something new, filled with anticipation for this different and grand experience, only to be totally and utterly let down by the new mexican cool kid on the block? Familiar? That was our Saturday afternoon, so Sunday saw us back to our favourite mexican: Beach Burrito Company Newtown. Although it’s 10km from the nearest beach, it’s only a quesadilla-width away from Mexican heaven. I’ll never stray again.
The Beach Burrito Company does what it does well. Staff are friendly and confident without being condescending. Food is fast and fresh and the servings are exactly what you’d expect from a mexican restaurant. The atmosphere is relaxed and promotes the purchasing of just one more corona before you amble home, contented.
Decor is great: mexican colours with gothic-religious undertones. Prices will set you back $9.95 – $14.95 for a killer burrito, $15 for all chimichangas, $13.95 for all quesadillas…the list goes on and it’s all under $15 dollars except for ambitious sounding fajita burritos which are undoubtably large enough to share. Start out your meal with chips and salsa ($5-$7) and you’re sure to not be able to finish your main.
Being a corona bucket kinda girl, I am pleased with the $30 bucket price (5 bottles), though note margaritas and cocktails for those of you with class.
I can’t recommend this place highly enough, it’s a beachin’ place for a quick and tasty meal.
